In her role as trust and companies division manager at CooperAitken, Megan Potter manages and administers the firm’s trusts, companies, professional trusteeships, compliance, and special work, including estate and succession planning work.

Some of Potter’s key achievements over the past 12 months include:

  • fine-tuning and evolvement of the firm’s Trust Administration and Company Administration Services, now equipped with strict review processes to ensure all transactions and duties are fulfilled;
  • moving the trust and company’s database to a cloud-based software and developed written processes for all tasks to ensure efficient practices;    
  • initiating sharing of AML information between local professional peers and developing a sort of an internal compliance hub for the firm; and     
  • research, preparation, and implementation of a review process for the firm’s trusts, in anticipation of the Trusts Act 2019 coming into effect in 2021.

Potter has also been recognised as NZ Lawyer Rising Star 2020.
