Simon Lewin, an experienced senior lawyer with a demonstrated history of working in-house across a number of large-scale sectors, oversees the legal, risk, regulatory affairs, and company secretarial functions for all business operations at Vocus.

Here are some of Lewin’s achievements over the past year:   

  • played a leading role in the corporate takeover defence against private equity bids by EQT Infrastructure and AGL, each valued at about $5 billion   
  • supported the business on the construction of two critical key subsea cables – the Australian Singapore Cable and the Solomon Islands-Papua New Guinea undersea cable from Australia
  • performed a key role in the design and implementation of a multi-million-dollar technology program to consolidate the Vocus network and business support systems
  • led, and continues to lead, Vocus’ regulatory and risk management approach during the COVID-19 pandemic
  • redefined the risk-management process and formalisation of risk registers and documented processes and measures
  • implemented standardised documents and shared resources that are accessible to members of the wider Vocus community
  • initiated revenue-generating opportunities in areas such as law enforcement, document processing, and cable cut costs recoveries
  • replacing manual processing and transaction recording with cutting-edge technology, such as electronic signing of legal documents, legal triage, and matter management systems
