Gowans has been the leading force behind functional changes in Origin’s legal team made to ultimately drive better outcomes for the business. The key values at the heart of this transformation involve increasing engagement within the team and the business and tracking performance to learn from any mistakes. Her most significant contribution this year has been to lead the implementation of the team’s new legal matter management system (“LMMS”), integrating it with Origin’s complex finance and IT systems and the team’s Word and Outlook interfaces. As a practicing lawyer for Origin for a number of years prior, Gowans has been able to certain pain points, cut through any technology barriers and help the legal team understand and maximise the benefits of the new LMMS and embed it into their day to day practice.
