Clayton Utz sees D&I as an integral part of being an employer of choice and the hallmark of a contemporary workplace. In the last 12 months, it received Gold Employer status for the third year in a row at the 2019 LGBTI Inclusion awards (the only law firm to be recognised); and, it was also awarded an Employer of Choice for Gender Equality citation by the Workplace Gender Equality Agency for 2018/19.

The firm has recently partnered with a company called Pymetrics to help remove bias from the clerkship recruitment process. It is an AI focused, gamified tool, grounded in neuroscience research to diversify the talent pool and help Clayton Utz choose the best candidates. It assesses a candidate's cognitive and emotional traits to determine which attributes make an individual successful.
