G+T attracts SPB partner

The new partner joins G+T's Perth office, strengthening its corporate advisory offering

G+T attracts SPB partner

Gilbert + Tobin (G+T) has attracted Squire Patton Boggs (SPB) corporate partner Simon Rear to its partnership.

Rear specialises in M&A, equity capital markets and corporate advisory work in Australia and the UK. He has represented clients across the property, construction, fin-tech and technology sectors in relation to the ASX listing process, contentious shareholder meetings, joint ventures and schemes of arrangement.

He has assisted issuers and underwriters on corporate aspects of fundraisings, including IPOs, rights issues, and placements. He has also advised creditors in distressed situations.

Rear, who spent nearly eight years with SPB, was described by partner Justin Mannolini as “a highly respected member of the profession.” Mannolini added that the G+T team in Perth was “excited by the very high degree of practice and cultural alignment between Simon and G+T.”

“[Rear’s] appointment will no doubt bring further bench strength to our corporate advisory offering in the Perth market,” Mannolini said.

Rear was once a corporate principal at Allion Legal. In addition to his legal work, he currently serves as a director of not-for-profit disability organisation Intelife Group Limited.

He commenced with G+T last Wednesday.
