Thomson Geer adds capital markets partner

Thomson Geer has strengthened its corporate and M&A team with the addition of a new partner.

Emma Cook commenced with the firm in Brisbane on 8 November, making the move from HWL Ebsworth after colleagues Matthew Reynolds and Dan Stumm. Reynolds, a partner, and Stumm, a senior associate, moved to the firm in July and August, respectively.

Cook is a specialist in equity and debt capital markets. She is also an expert on M&A, private equity, and corporate advisory. She has particular focus on advising clients in the energy and resources, technology, agriculture, infrastructure, retail, and manufacturing sectors.

“She provides clients with access to high-level skills in areas that are heavily regulated and highly technical. A significant part of Emma's practice is cross-border, with an Asian focus,” the firm said.

Adrian Tembel, Thomson Geer chief executive partner, said that the firm is pleased to welcome Cook, who’s looking forward to working with Brisbane-based equity capital markets specialist Eugene Fung and her former colleagues.

Thomson Geer’s expansion saw the firm announce its acquisition of Kemp Strang in October, making it the fifth-largest independent firm in Australia. The firm has about 550 people, including 109 partners, and offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Adelaide.
