Highlight: 2023 Most Influential Lawyer makes history at the College of Law

One of Australasian Lawyer’s 2023 Most Influential Lawyers has made history at the College of Law by being its youngest lecturer in the legal practice management course for senior lawyers and partners.

He may only be 31, but Zile Yu has been an example of what young people can achieve as he shares with his students strategies and models that enable them to harness technology and innovation in startup practices. The founder and managing partner of Quantum Law Group is also currently the chairman and president of the Disruptive Innovation Association.

Rachel Besley, Deloitte legal practitioner director and partner, echoed the need for a focus on technology in the legal profession.

“We really need to redesign the way that lawyers work and how we actually rethink what it is that we do and what drives value. It’s only then that you bring in technology and integrate it to make our work more valuable and productive”, she explained.

Yu, whose personal motto is the Biblical adage “to whom much is given, much is required”, lives by the model of, “life is short, so do something that inspires you”.

“I want to set a good example for those around me and be someone others can look up to”, he said.
