Gadens has welcomed two IP stars in Marina Olsen and Jeren Gul to beef up its media and IP offering.

Olsen joins the IPT partnership in Sydney, while Gul commences as an associate. Both make the jump from IP and media boutique Banki Haddock Fiora.

Olsen has extensive litigation experience, having tackled cases involving defamation and IP. She has worked on issues covering all aspects of the IP life cycle.

She defended Fairfax/Nine Publishing and Christie Whelan Browne in the defamation case brought by actor Craig McLachlan; acted for the Australian Financial Review (AFR) and columnist Joe Aston in a defamation case brought by venture capitalist Elaine Stead; and represented the AFR and Aaron Patrick in a defamation case filed by entrepreneur Dr. Jemma Green. She has also offered pre-publication advice to clients across publishing, film, television, and podcasting.

Olsen has provided guidance on IP commercialisation and privacy legal issues, especially those pertinent to media clients. She has also handled matters involving sports, design, and consumer goods.

She logged stints with Allens and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in London as well.

Gadens CEO Mark Pistilli highlighted Olsen’s “deep understanding of the evolving media landscape and the legal challenges and opportunities it presents” as an asset to the firm.
