She has over 30 years' experience in civil litigation and dispute resolutions
DLA Piper (Canada) LLP has announced the appointment of Heather Treacy, K.C., as co-chair of its litigation, arbitration, and investigations group in Canada.
Treacy, nationally recognized for her expertise in civil litigation and dispute resolution, brings a wealth of experience accumulated over more than three decades in the legal profession. Throughout her career, she has represented clients in complex litigation and disputes across various jurisdictions, including Alberta, Ontario, the Federal Court, the Federal Court of Appeal and various tribunals. She has extensive experience with negotiations and mediation in a broad range of matters. Furthermore, she specializes in Indigenous law and has contributed to several precedent-setting cases.
Prior to her current appointment, Treacy held numerous management positions within DLA Piper. Between 2013 and 2019, she served as managing partner of the firm’s office in Calgary. She also served as an elected member of the executive committee from 2019 to 2023. In addition, she presently leads the firm's pro bono committee.

Treacy joins longstanding co-chairs David Foulds (Toronto) and P. John Landry, K.C. (Vancouver), in leading the firm's litigation team, which comprises over 100 lawyers across Canada.
Landry welcomed Treacy to the leadership team, stating, “Dave and I are thrilled to have Heather join us in leading the largest practise group in the firm. We look forward to working with her to enhance and grow our litigation group in what will no doubt be an exciting future for the firm.”
