The partner returns to the firm after stints in private and in-house practice in London and Melbourne
Corrs Chambers Westgarth has welcomed partner Carol Daicic, who has been named the firm’s head of environment and planning.
Daicic returns to the firm after a stint at the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal, where she was a full-time member. She is based in Corrs’ Melbourne office.
“Carol has extensive advisory, transactional and contentious environmental and planning experience, with deep relationships with government and private-sector developers,” said John W.H. Denton AO, Corrs CEO and partner.
Daicic will not only bring a breadth of skills to the firm’s environment and planning team, but will also add her extensive experience in operating in high-performing cultures and organisations, Denton said.
The new partner started her legal career at Corrs, where she rose to senior associate before joining Magic Circle firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in London. She is also a former senior associate at Norton Rose Fulbright and a partner at Best Hooper Lawyers.
At Freshfields, she specialised in giving advice on transactional cross-border environmental and planning matters. She advised on major infrastructure projects and all aspects of planning, environmental and heritage applications, growth areas, compulsory acquisitions, urban renewal sites and value capture developments.
Daicic is legal presiding member at VCAT, which frequently makes her responsible for dealing with complex major projects cases. She also acts in matters before Planning Panels Victoria, ministerial advisory committees, the Heritage Council and the Supreme Court of Victoria, Corrs said.
