Ashurst taps senior commercial litigation partner for disputes & investigations practice

Global law firm Ashurst has tapped Angela Pearsall to join its disputes & investigations practice as a senior commercial litigation partner.

Based in Sydney, Pearsall brings over 25 years of experience in complex litigation. Her background includes large-scale commercial litigation, class actions, and contentious regulatory investigations.

Pearsall has also led major cases from corporate failures, initial public offerings, capital raisings, and complex financial instruments. She specialises in complex financial reporting litigation and has represented global accounting and auditing firms for over a decade.

This new role marks Pearsall’s return to Ashurst. She had been with the firm for over 12 years before moving to Clifford Chance in 2016.  While there, she served as co-chair of the international commercial litigation group.

“We are delighted to welcome Angela back to Ashurst,” said Lea Constantine, Ashurst’s head of region, Australia.

Constantine referred to Pearsall as an “expert litigator” and said her addition will “play an important role in our plans to expand our disputes & investigations offering globally.”

“Her experience on complex commercial matters and class actions will add bench strength to our existing practice while her global outlook aligns with our ambitions to expand the practice across multiple jurisdictions,” Constantine added.

Pearsall’s addition to Ashurst’s disputes and investigations practice comes after Judith Seddon joined the team in London.

Global CEO Paul Jenkins commented on Ashurst’s continued investment in the disputes & investigations practice as he underscored its importance to the firm’s international strategy.

“Angela is the 16th new partner we have appointed to this team globally in the past two years,” he said.

Pearsall also spoke about her appointment and said she is excited to return to Ashurst “at a time of significant growth for the firm.”

“The firm’s deep, full-service offering will become even more attractive to clients as litigation and regulatory landscapes evolve in line with emerging global risks such as ESG and technology,” she said. “I look forward to working with Ashurst’s disputes & investigations team to further expand the practice.”
