Ashurst guides Equinix's first Australian renewable PPA

Ashurst has guided Equinix Australia on its inaugural renewable power purchase agreement (PPA) in Australia and the wider APAC region.

The agreement, which Equinix entered into with TagEnergy, will see Equinix securing 151MW of clean energy from the Golden Plains Wind Farm – East in Victoria. Under the deal, Equinix will offtake almost 20% of the total energy generated by the farm.

The Ashurst team was led by partner Cassandra Wee, who received support from counsel Douglas Fung, senior associate Tristan Shepherd, and associates Joshua Hetzel and Jack Jones (projects and energy transition).

Equinix’s target for 2030 is to hit 100% renewables coverage. The Golden Plains Wind Farm is valued at $3bn and is Australia's largest wind farm thus far.
